Kimpton Miralina finished most of the renovation work its visitors see in January 2026. Sanctuary Camelback Mountain announced its own renovation in September 2026 and set the start for summer 2027. Because the two schedules run in opposite directions, both of Paradise Valley's resorts will look finished from now through spring. Miralina's remaining construction is sequenced around its open amenities, and Sanctuary's next renovation is still months away. That stretch ends when Katsuya opens at Miralina in early 2027, and the next change after that comes from Sanctuary.
Both resorts serve as dining rooms, spas and event calendars for the people who live around them, so the two timelines decide which version of each you'll get this winter.
Miralina Already Got Through the Disruptive Part
Kimpton Miralina's $70 million renovation, at 7200 N. Scottsdale Rd. near Indian Bend Road, came in two phases. Phase One delivered 260 reimagined guest rooms, new meeting spaces and redesigned public areas. The Canyon guest rooms and casitas opened in January 2026, along with an outdoor area built around three pools.
Phase Two covers 134 renovated Valley Villas, a 10-residence hotel-within-a-hotel called The Enclave, and Arizona's first Katsuya. All three are scheduled for early 2027. The resort's June 2026 announcement says construction "has been carefully sequenced to ensure all existing Phase One amenities remain fully operational without disruption throughout the expansion." That means the remaining work is happening behind the property's open areas.
The open areas cover a full day. Hecho Libre, run by James Beard finalist Wes Avila, serves breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. The bar is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The resort calendar lists live music at Hecho Libre on Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. and yoga on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Spa Miralina's booking page offers non-guests an eight-hour hydrotherapy pass for $85. It includes the outdoor contrast-therapy facilities and the Canyon Pools hot tub, but not the spa's locker facilities.
Katsuya is the one piece still missing. As of October 7, its page on the resort site still says "Opening Early 2027" and offers an email signup instead of a reservation link. Experience Scottsdale's fall 2026 update also kept the early-2027 target, and no source has reported a delay.
Sanctuary Starts on a Different Schedule
Sanctuary went the other way. On September 14, 2026, the resort announced that it was moving to independent ownership and management under a partnership between Berger Holdings and RJ Hospitality. The release describes both as local firms. This is the property's second ownership change in five years. In 2021, Hotel Management reported that Gurney's Resorts and Scottsdale-based BB Hotels had partnered to buy the resort from Robert H. Castellini, who had owned it since 1992. No price or closing date has been disclosed for the 2026 transition.
Managing Director Laura McIver described the new owners this way:
"Our owners are local community leaders who bring a shared passion for this extraordinary destination."
The renovation timeline in the release is the part that matters for this season. Hart+Howerton is the architect and designer of record. All 110 guest rooms and casitas get an interior refresh starting in summer 2027, with completion targeted for September 2027. Changes to the restaurants and bars and to Sanctuary Spa follow in 2028. The release doesn't list specific changes for elements or Jade Bar, and none of the materials reviewed mention a closure this fall or winter.
So the restaurants and spa are the last parts of Sanctuary scheduled to change, and that work is more than a year away. The release lists elements and jade bar, which it describes as offering "Asian-forward cuisine," along with a spa with 12 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and tennis and pickleball courts with private clinics. The one recent construction project at Sanctuary was a separate $7 million renovation of its event spaces. KTAR reported that it was finished in January 2026.
The Two Schedules, Side by Side
Put the dates from both announcements in order and the shared quiet period shows up clearly:
- January 2026: Miralina opens its Canyon rooms and redesigned public spaces. Sanctuary finishes its $7 million event-space renovation.
- Q4 2026: Miralina's release puts the start of the Phase Two unveiling here.
- Early 2027: Katsuya, the Valley Villas and The Enclave are scheduled to open. Miralina's completion target is Q1 2027.
- Summer 2027: Sanctuary begins renovating all 110 rooms and casitas.
- September 2027: Target completion for Sanctuary's room renovation.
- 2028: Sanctuary's food and beverage outlets and spa get their planned enhancements.
From now until Katsuya opens, both resorts are in a steady state. Miralina is in its finished Phase One form and Sanctuary is in the form it has had for years.
What Both Calendars Hold Through New Year's Eve
The two schedules also mean this is the last holiday season before Sanctuary's renovation starts. Both resorts have filled their fall calendars. Here are the dated events posted on each resort's site and on the Town of Paradise Valley's alert center:
| Date | Where | Event |
|---|---|---|

Both resorts are running mahjong in the same two weeks. Miralina's beginner sessions fall on October 10 and 17, and Sanctuary's matcha pairing is on October 16. The Sanctuary release says its wellness calendar runs "community-forward matcha & mahjong weekends" as a regular program. The Town's car show is listed on the Paradise Valley alert center. Sanctuary's event pages show no publish dates, so check with the resort before booking.
The two spa options are priced differently. Sanctuary is running an October weekday promotion, Monday through Thursday subject to availability: 10% off one 60-minute treatment or 20% off two. Miralina sells a flat $85 day of hydrotherapy. The facilities differ in size too. The Miralina release describes Spa Miralina as having five treatment rooms, while Sanctuary Spa has 12.
When the Overlap Ends
Katsuya ends the steady stretch on Miralina's side. sbe Culinary Director Benjamin Dayag will lead a menu built around sushi, sashimi, robata-grilled dishes and premium cuts. sbe founder Sam Nazarian said the brand's presence will extend into the onsen-inspired pool and The Enclave residences. Once Katsuya opens, Miralina will have two chef-driven restaurants and 404 renovated rooms on 40 acres. Sanctuary has 110 rooms on 53 acres.
Sanctuary's guest-facing changes come later and in stages. Room work runs from summer through September 2027, and the release sets enhancements to its food and beverage outlets and Sanctuary Spa for 2028. The property opened as a tennis ranch club in the 1950s, and the release says the new ownership wants to keep it "a timeless local staple for the next half-century." Until summer 2027, the Sanctuary on the calendar above is the property as it stands today.
Renovation money arriving on staggered schedules shapes the streets around these two resorts, and the team at Templeton Walker tracks those timelines as closely as any project of our own.
